Maine’s marijuana policy workplace is searching for to curb confusion about the state’s new track-and-trace program following cannabis company owners complained about the charges of complying with the system.

The Maine Workplace of Marijuana Policy performed a demonstration of a cloud-primarily based application solution offered by Florida-primarily based BioTrackTHC that will use barcode-primarily based tags and labels to track the development and distribution of marijuana goods in the state.

Person tags and labels will price 25 cents.

The Portland Press Herald reported some marijuana market members have been concerned that would imply hundreds of tags would be expected for the life of a single plant that can be processed into several goods.

The marijuana workplace later clarified that person goods readily available for sale would not demand person labels.

BioTrackTHC received a six-year, $275,000 contract from Maine to present the tracking program.

The Maine policy workplace says the track-and-trace program is expected in the state’s marijuana legalization act.
