The Lone Star State is going to hemp. On May 15, 2019, the Texas state Senate voted unanimously to approve a measure that legalizes industrial hemp production in the state. In addition to legalizing hemp production, the bill also legalizes hemp-derived products such as cannabidiol (CBD). The bill will now go back to the House, which unanimously approved the measure last month, to approve some minor changes made to the measure by the Senate. If the House signs off on the changes, the bill will then go to the Gov. Greg Abbot for approval.
